Teacher Appreciation – May 16th

On Wednesday, May 16th (and May 17th for T/TH KG), we will celebrate Teacher/Staff Appreciation Day at JCES!

This is a special day set aside that allows your child to recognize his/her teacher and one (or more!) staff member(s) of choice (staff members can include Special Teachers, Office Staff, Cafeteria and Recess Staff, Custodial Staff, etc.)

This year your child can choose to honor their teacher and a staff member in whatever way they wish. You can find many ideas on the internet by searching “teacher appreciation.” You can honor your teacher/staff member by simply writing a note, sending in a flower, a small gift, sweet treats, or even a picture drawn by your child.

Staff Appreciation Meal

We are busy preparing for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Day.  We will be hosting a luncheon for the staff on Thursday, May 17th.  The PTO will be providing a lunch catered by Senor Antonios.  We are asking parents to volunteer to bring a dessert to provide with the lunch.  We are also looking for help with decorating the Staff Lounge on Wednesday, May 16th from 2:30-3:30.  We will be decorating the lounge with a FIESTA theme.   We are looking for homemade desserts such as fruit salads, cakes or any extra special treat that you are known for making.  Please be specific and note what type of dessert you will be providing.  We are also looking for warming trays or plates to borrow for the luncheon.  This is the one day that we treat the staff to extra special day, so we appreciate your help.  If you are interested in helping, please go to the following:
Thank you all for your dedication to JCES!

Please take a look at the sign up page and consider volunteering your time.  This is a really fun and rewarding day for the kids AND parent helpers, and we need lots of help to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Also – if you have not turned in your Pioneer Day Lunch form – please take a moment to complete and turn that in as soon as possible, so we can plan accordingly.  To download form, click Pioneer Day Lunch Flyer 2012.

Ronald McDonald House

Collect Those Aluminum Pull Tabs!

We have found another simple way to be of service to our community and our environment. You may have noticed a small red-roofed “house” on our front counter in the foyer. This is a collection box for aluminum pull tabs that will benefit the Ronald McDonald House. As you may know, the Ronald McDonald House is a residence for families whose children are undergoing treatment at Children’s Hospital. The money raised from the recycling of the pull tabs allows families to stay at the Ronald McDonald House for free or at little cost.

The tabs can come from pop cans, soup cans, pet food cans – any aluminum tab will work.
