Thank you to those 178 of you that participated in the Background Check Fair at LTES on February 16.  We have been told our results will be mailed to each of us from the State of Ohio- Attorney General’s Office within 7-10 business days.  If you have any problems receiving yours you should call the Criminal Identification Bureau at 740-845-2000. 

Once your paperwork has been received, you should copy all the pages, and send the copies (keep the original) to Liberty Tree c/o Principal Terri Caton.  We couldn’t do it without volunteers like you. Thank you! 

 If you came hoping to participate and weren’t able to stay due to the long wait, we apologize and appreciate your effort.  Below we have listed some alternative options for you:

  Tell him you’re with Liberty Tree and he’ll give you his $51 price ($70 normally) and he’s mobile.  He can meet you somewhere public like Panera or McDonald’s to complete the BCI/FBI on your schedule. Cash, check or credit card.  Also available evenings and weekends.

Dear Parents,

As part of an ongoing effort to protect and provide the safest environment for the young people we serve, the Olentangy Local School District has recently joined many other districts, such as Worthington and Hilliard. in requiring background checks (BCI and FBI) for all volunteers who will be chaperoning the students on field trips in which they will have the “care and custody” of the children.  This became effective January 1, 2012.  Beginning in August of 2012, all parent volunteers will need to have a background check in order to work with children within the school setting.

For your convenience, the LTES PTO is offering a background check service provided by Celtic Security at Liberty Tree Elementary School located at 6877 Sawmill Parkway in Powell for Olentangy parents.

This service will be made available 1:00 PM to 8PM on Thursday, February 16^th.  The cost is $51.00. Celtic Security accepts cash, check or credit card for payment.  Each participant will need a valid ID and/or driver’s license, and social security number.  All results will be mailed to the participant from the State of Ohio.

Parents may make hard copies of the results and provide them to their child’s elementary school principal (at the present time – do not digitally send them to the school).  Please keep your original for your own records.  The background check information is valid for 5 years.  Completing the February 16, 2012 background check means your next BCI/FBI background check will need to be completed by February 17, 2017.
